british council

British Council would like expressions of interest for the 2013 Hornby Scholarships program. This program provides a full scholarship for an English language teaching professional to study for a Master’s degree at a UK University.

An IELTS score of 6.5 is required. All applicants must submit evidence that they have at least IELTS 6.5, or an equivalent score in a different English language certificate. If an applicant has a different English language certification (TOEFL, TOEIC, etc.), we may ask you to complete an IELTS examination after we have assessed your initial application.

Interested participants should submit a full CV, and answer the following three questions:

1). Please describe your current English teaching duties and responsibilities. Please describe any teacher training you have delivered, and explain whether this was part of PRESET or INSET programmes or both. (Approximately 250 words total).

2). Please state in not more than 1,000 words (approx 250 words per section):

  • Why you wish to study for an ELT Masters in the UK;
  • What professional experience, skills and interests you would bring to your studies;
  • How you think you would benefit in terms of career and personal development from obtaining this qualification once you have returned to your home country; and
  • What benefit will your training bring to your place of employment.

3). Please submit evidence of your having IELTS 6.5, or an equivalent certification. Please send this information before Close of Business on Sunday 12 May 2013 to: jesicca.stefy@britishcouncil.or.id
